Center Kristen Baez- Coach’s take: “She’s all about rebounding. She had more than 100 rebounds in eight games. She uses great body positioning, worked hard in practice in keeping the ball high. It pretty much came natural to her; the ball was always in her hands.”
Forward Tiffany D Avanzo-Coach’s take: “She wasn’t afraid to shoot. She was pretty steady at the corner shot and played CYO prior. For her it was about learning. I had a good idea right away that she could shoot. She proved it by hitting a few three-pointers over me. That was impressive.”
Forward Ciara Walsh- Coach’s take: “She played CYO and her mom had emailed me prior asking if we were going to have a team and I thought to myself that I might have something pretty good here. I couldn’t guarantee her mom one at first because you never know with the PSAL. She averaged close to 15 points a game and about eight or nine rebounds a game. We used great ball rotations for getting her open. She had a nice set shot, nice fake, got around opponents and was very aggressive. She did it while she wore braces on both knees all season. It effected her minutes and I had to monitor the situation all season.”
Guard Samantha Suden- Coach’s take: “She played prior and was very aggressive on defense. That led to turnovers and steals and a lot of fast breaks. Her thing was hard-nosed defense which led to a lot of points. She took pride in it and enjoyed it. You definitely saw the look in her eye. She was definitely one of our better defenders. She also averaged about six points a game, and was our leading assist person.”
Point Guard Paula Tameta- Coach’s take: “She was our leader on the court. She had five points a game and close to three assists. She was very good on defense. Any time I needed a turnover, I’d just yell ‘Paula go get it.’ She was always listening, looking at sidelines for plays and yelling out the plays for us. She led by example; she had shin splints but battled through. She showed willingness and determination.”
