Thousands of New Yorkers from every culture and background celebrated an early St. Patrick’s Day in Sunnyside and Woodside on Sunday, Mar. 3, by marching in the 14th annual “St. Pat’s For All” Parade along Skillman and Woodside avenues. As noted, the march celebrating Irish culture is the only one of its kind in New York City open to all organizations, including groups representing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) residents. Aidan Connolly and Pauline Turley of the Irish Arts Center served as the parade’s grand marshals. They are pictured at left marching along with a group of local elected officials including City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and City Council Members Jimmy Van Bramer and Daniel Dromm. Hundreds lined the parade route cheering on those who participated and enjoying entertainment provided by Irish dancers, floutists, bagpipers and drummers. Other groups represented at the parade were the Daisies of Girl Scout Troop 4074, the Queens Lesbian and Gay Pride Committee and the Remember the Triangle Fire Coalition.
