Colin Byrne, a third-grade student at St. Matthias School in Ridgewood, created and ran a project to collect old, unused eyeglasses to be delivered and distributed to third-world nations. As noted, the donated spectacles will be used to help people who cannot afford proper eye care. Through the generosity of students and faculty at St. Matthias, it was noted, Byrne was able to collect over 100 pairs of eyeglasses.
