Young Floutist Selected For ‘All Eastern Honors’
Ava Mack, a senior at Kellenberg Memorial High School, has been selected for the National Music Association’s “All Eastern Honors.”
The young floutist has held the first chair for all four years at Kellenberg and has played with the Lawrence Eismann Chamber Music Ensemble at Queens College. She also participates in Playback, a group of young Long Island musicians who give back to the community by plaing at various senior centers during the year.
At Kellenberg, Mack plays in the pit band and has played at various venues for the high school band, including the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. To be considered for selection into All Eastern Honors, she had to meet the challenging criteria of achieving perfect scores for two consecutive years on the Level 6 NYSSMA pieces and be selected to the all-county and all-state bands. “I am so honored to have been selected and I am proud to represent New York state and Kellenberg Memroial High School at this year’s All Eastern Honor’s ensemble,” Mack said. The All Eastern Honors performance will be held on Apr. 7 at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford, Conn.
