The leader of the Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens, Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, visited St. John’s Preparatory School in Astoria on Apr. 18 to celebrate Mass and meet with students and other members of the school community. After being greeted by St. John’s Principal William Higgins, DiMarzio presided over the liturgy, which included a homily on the roles parents, teachers and friends play in the development of faith within students. Following Mass, Raven Valentin, president of the Student Council, presented DiMarzio with a St. John’s Prep sweatshirt. The bishop is pictured with various high school students.
