Firefighters helped rescue a man who was seriously injured after a one-alarm blaze broke out in the victim’s Maspeth home on Monday morning, May 13, it was reported. According to Fire Department sources, the fire ignited at about 8 a.m. in the basement of a residence on 53rd Road between 73rd and 74th streets. Responding to the scene (in the order of their arrival) were members of Squad companies 288 and 270; Engine companies 287, 319 and 292; Ladder companies 136 and 163 and Rescue 4. The victim was rushed by EMS units to Elmhurst Hospital Center and was listed in serious condition.
