Retired Army Sgt. First Class Marvin R. Jeffcoat of Woodside, past county commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Queens County Council, was honored by State Sen. Joseph Addabbo in Albany last Tuesday, May 21, during the State Senate’s 2013 Veterans Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Born in Jamaica, Jeffcoat enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve in 1982, followed by the Army two years later. He retired from active duty in 2004, having served in special assignments in Korea and in combat during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. He also held leadership posts at Fort Drum. Addabbo stated he admired Jeffcoat “for his extensive military service, his dedication to his country and his commitment to his home community of Queens.”
