Students from P.S. 111 in the Ravenswood section of Long Island City participated in a rally last week at the Central branch of the Queens Borough Public Library in Jamaica to protest proposed cuts to the system. During their appearance, the youngsters performed a skit written by the Friends of the Library called “The Unhappy Library.” The performance was aimed at calling attention to cutbacks that will take effect at Queens Library branches should funding be reduced in the next city budget. Shown with the students outside the library are City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer and Queens Library President and CEO Thomas Galante.
