A man suspected of fatally shooting a dozen people at a Washington, D.C. naval facility Monday morning was born in Queens and lived in Flushing for two years, according to the FBI and published reports.
Aaron Alexis, 34, was among the 13 found dead in the Washington Navy Yard after police say he shot his way through the facility beginning shortly after 8 a.m., The Washington Post reported.
Alexis most recently lived in Fort Worth, Texas, but according to the FBI, he was born in Queens May 9, 1979.
A report in the Forth Worth-based Star-Telegram, said he called Flushing home from 2000 to 2002.
As of Monday afternoon, police were still searching for at least one other man who may have been involved in the shootings, according to The Post.
Flushing has been connected to several infamous incidents that made national news, including a terrorist plot by former Flushing High School students Zarein Ahmedzay, Adis Medunjanin and Najibullah Zazi to blow up New York City subways in 2010. They were all found guilty.
