A diner, and so much more

Did you ever go into a diner and feel like it sparkles? That’s how I felt when I entered the totally redesigned and renamed Fabulous Nevada Diner.

Fortunately, the redo was done by the owner of the Georgia Diner a few blocks away. Attention to detail is evident from the moment you enter and your dining experience begins at the door.

The warm shades of the new booths and tables are enhanced by lights that change color as the seconds pass. You get the feeling that you are in a Las Vegas dining room with that subtle touch. At night the lights outside also change color.

There is a well laid out area that can be used for private parties on one side of the space with tables and booths on the other.

But as bright as the environment is, it was the smiles on the faces of the host and the well-trained staff that helped to make my first visit so memorable.

Since the Fabulous Nevada Diner is open seven days a week and on weekend 24 hours, there is something on the menu for everyone.

I began my meal with the dinner special of the day. Every day they offer different specials in addition to their regular menu.

My meal included soup or salad, assorted breads, a potato and a vegetable or I could have had pasta or rice. I began with my favorite appetizer, spinach pie. It had just the right crispness with the filo dough and blend of feta cheese and spinach. My friend had the just spicy enough homemade chili with crispy nachos.

I was drawn into the many menu choices by the words “free range chicken ragout.” The dish piqued my curiosity with its ingredients: shallots, diced tomatoes, shiitake mushrooms, scallions and green peppercorn in a light wine sauce. It sounded like a delicious combination and it was!

The adventurous chef also offered a perfectly cooked dish of ravioli with fat, juicy, perfectly cooked shrimp in a light pink sauce served with rice pilaf. It was a treat for the palate.
The waiter was very accommodating, taking my adjustments for no salt and sauce on the side.

The Fabulous Nevada Diner is prepared to personalize any meal, but with the dozens of choices it’s no problem finding whatever your heart desires.

I then went back for lunch and was amazed at the number of panini offered. I tried the Cuban chicken panini and loved the combination of grilled chicken, sliced ham, Swiss cheese and tomatoes, horseradish with mayo and crispy cut French fries. The portions are so large they can be shared.

The Fabulous Nevada Diner lives up to its name. Try it, you’ll love it as I did!
