Gottschee Teams Take Tourney

This past weekend (Jan. 11-12) two young Blau Weiss Gottschee (BWG) soccer teams won their divisions in the Annual Rockland Community College Indoor Invitational Soccer Tournament. In winning their divisions, players from the BWG U8 Blue and U9 Blue displayed the Gottschee style of soccer: Play from the back; utilize many passes and lots of combination play; and fast penetration in forward position, said coach Ovid Cusu. U9 Blue won five games with big scores against oppositions such as Rough Riders and Asphalt Green Soccer Clubs, it was noted. Both teams won all five of their tournament games, Cusu said.
