Woodhaven residents had something to celebrate last week-the City planted a new evergreen at Forest Parkway Plaza to replace the tall pine tree knocked down during Hurricane Sandy. The previous tree-which stood over 100′-tall-served as the community’s Christmas tree for over two decades before its demise. As previously reported, the city Parks Department had planted a decidious tree at the plaza, which drew criticism from local residents and civic organizations. The Parks Department subsequently transplanted the decidious tree to another location to make room for the evergreen sapling at the Forest Parkway Plaza.
