Cuff Son for Parent Abuse

Roughed Up Elderly Mom, Dad In R’wood

A Ridgewood man appeared in court last Thursday, Feb. 6, to answer to charges that he allegedly abused his elderly parents over the past several months, prosecutors reported.

Law enforcements sources charged that Marco A. Flores, 47, of Gates Avenue repeatedly lashed out verbally and physically at his 72- year-old mother-who has a neurological disorder-and his 76- year-old father.

Home health care professionals tending to Flores’ mother reported the pattern of alleged abuse, which took place between October last year and last Tuesday, Feb. 4, according to information provided by the Queens District Attorney’s office.

In one instance last fall, police stated, Flores allegedly screamed at his mother, then threw her out of bed, ripped off her wig and tore it into pieces.

On Jan. 14 of this year, prosecutors said, Flores allegedly smashed a number of lights in the home with a crowbar. Reportedly, he also yelled at his mother and pushed her against the wall.

Law enforcement sources said the suspect then allegedly took out his rage on the washing machine, breaking off its door. He later screamed at his father, grabbed a bowl of soup out of his hands and smashed it on the floor, according to the criminal complaint.

Following an investigation by the 104th Precinct, P.O. Loutrina Mathelier-Potter arrested Flores last Tuesday on charges of second-degree assault, endangering the welfare of an incompetent person, criminal mischief and menacing.

According to court records, he was arraigned last Thursday, Feb. 6, in Queens Criminal Court before Judge Erica Koenderman, who ordered him held on $25,000 bail. Flores is scheduled to return to court on Feb. 24.
