Bushwick Lovers’ Quarrel Turns Bloody

An apparent dispute between two mates in Bushwick early on Sunday morning, Feb. 23, ended violently when a man shot his significant other in the chest, police reported.

The victim, a 25-year-old woman, was listed in stable condition at Brookdale University Hospital, law enforcement sources said.

Authorities said the alleged shooter-a 27-year-old man standing 5’7″-tall, weighing 150 lbs. with brown eyes and long, black hair- remains at large as of press time Wednesday, Feb. 26. Sources familiar with the investigation stated he is the victim’s common-law husband.

Reportedly, the shooting took place at 12:41 a.m. Sunday morning inside an apartment on Decatur Street near Irving Avenue.

Police said the couple got into an argument over reasons which remain under investigation.

After allegedly shooting the woman, the perpetrator fled from the scene in an unknown direction.

Members of the 83rd Precinct and EMS units rushed to the location after receiving a 911 call about the gunplay.

Various police units canvassed the surrounding area, but no immediate arrests were made despite their efforts, according to authorities.

The 83rd Precinct Detective Squad is continuing its investigation, police said.
