Sunnyside Branch To Screen Indie Flicks

Three Queens Library branches will participate in the Indie Film Festival next month, and those with library cards can participate for free.As announced, the three branches will hold screenings for four short independent films, followed by a group discussion and a vote for their favorite film and actor. Admission is free.

The first screening takes place next Wednesday, Apr. 2, at 1 p.m. at the Hillcrest branch, located at 187- 05 Union Tpke. The other screenings are on Friday, Apr. 11, at 4:30 p.m. at the Sunnyside branch, located at 43- 06 Greenpoint Ave; and on Friday, Apr. 25, at 4 p.m. at the Seaside branch, located at 116-15 Rockaway Beach Blvd. in the Rockaways.

Those who cannot make either screening may still watch the films on IndieFlix through Queens Library’s website, then discuss and vote on them on Queens Library’s Facebook page.

IndieFlix offers unlimited streaming access to more than 4,000 works of independent film and television, including the best of Sundance, Cannes, Tribeca, and more. IndieFlix is available on Apple, Android, and all Internetenabled devices. Patrons can also watch films on TV with their Roku devices.

IndieFlix offers feature-length films, short subjects, documentaries and classics. They also have episodes of some classic TV shows like Dragnet, the classic 1940s Superman cartoons and The Beverly Hillbillies.
