Suspect in subway assault on Hispanic man sought by cops

LONG ISLAND CITY — The NYPD released surveillance images of a suspect wanted in an assault last month on the No. 7 train, according to cops.

Authorities said a 43-year-old Hispanic man was aboard a Queen-bound No. 7 train Feb. 23 when the suspect approached him and allegedly punched him twice in the head before making anti-Mexican statements towards the victim.

The suspect then allegedly fled the train at the Court Square Station, according to cops. Police said the victim received bruises to his nose and a lacerated lip but refused medical aid at the scene.

The NYPD initially released a sketch of the suspect several days after the attack. Authorities described the suspect as a 6-foot, 165-pound black man.

Those with information should contact NYPD’s Crimestoppers by calling 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), visiting its website or texting 274637 (CRIMES) and entering TIP577.
