Trina Catterson of Glendale was one of 14 young baton twirlers across the nation who competed in the U.S. trials for a spot on the world team. Reportedly, she qualified for the team with two no-drop performances and will represent the U.S. durign the World Baton Twirling Championships in Nottingham, England this August. She is an honor roll eighth-grader at P.S./I.S. 113 in Glendale and will attend Forest Hills High School this September. Coached by Alaine Robbins, this is the second time Catterson made the national baton twirling team. In 2012, she and pairs partner Toni Ann Cox of Deer Park competed in the World Championships in Paris, earning bronze medals in junior pairs.
