U9 Blue Boys Squad Advances With Blowout

The BlauWeiss Gottschee (BWG) U-9 Blue boys had a busy day last Sunday, Apr. 27. In the morning they played in an New York Cup quarterfinal against Samba, and in a great all-around performance advanced to the next round with an 8-1 win.

Blau Weiss Gottschee shows good sportmanship at the conclusion of a weekend game.

In this match goals were scored by Liam Molloy, two, Damien John, two, Aidan Burke, two, Kory Alvarez and Ryan Wiseman, one each.

Later that day, ’04 Blue played against Met Oval. Despite some tired bodies they won 5-4, with goals from Kory Alvarez, two, and Damien John, Liam Molloy and Oliverio Bosi, who added one each.

The U-9 Royals also played two regular season games this weekend. In the first match they won 2-1 against a very good side from Brooklyn, the Chernomorets. In this game goals were scored by Emiliano Perez and Fernando Urigilez. On Sunday, Fernando continued to play well as he scored all three goals against Soccer Fun for Kids in a 3-1 win.

The U-19 BWG boys team played Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League leaders Westchester Flames at Brennan Field in Middle Village.

The first half was close, with neither team finding the back of the net. In the second half Westchester pulled away with two goals on free kicks.

Gottschee got one back to halve the lead when Byron Huerta scored from the penalty spot, but Gottschee couldn’t add a second, and BWG lost 3-1.
