Volunteers beautified a neighborhood garden on Ridgewood’s Shaler Avenue adjacent to the Long Island Rail Road’s Bay Ridge branch during a community cleanup last Saturday morning, May 3. Organized by Civics United for Railroad and Environmental Solutions (CURES) and the Farmers Oval Civic Association, local residents removed debris and planted new flowers in the garden, created in recent years through grants from Keep America Beautiful and the Citizens Committee for New York City.
