Guard your wheels.
There has been an incident in the Ditmars section of the neighborhood where a car owner discovered his vehicle without tires and rims.
The thieves, which are likely to be part of a crew, struck at 28th Street and Ditmars Blvd in the early hours of May 25. The vehicle was parked under a bright light on a street with plenty of traffic.
The police have said that these thefts are typically conducted by professional crews that are able to take the tires & rims off in a matter of a minute or two. Furthermore, these crews often target an area for a period of time and then go elsewhere.
The police recommend that residents can help prevent the crime by cutting their front wheels toward the curb when they park.
