Offers Assistance To Hurricane Sandy Victims
Representatives from the city’s storm rebuilding program “Build It Back” will be stationed in State Sen. Joseph P. Addabbo’s Howard Beach office, 159-53 102nd St., every Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m.
“Time and time again my constituents come to me and say they either haven’t heard a word from Build It Back, or they are being given the runaround. It’s time to bring the program’s representatives straight to the people, where they can be given the attention and face-to-face courtesy they deserve,” Addabbo said. “I am thankful Build it Back has people in the Rockaways, but residents off of the Peninsula were affected as well, and they should be able to get help in their own neighborhood.”
The Build It Back staff present will file paperwork for residents, investigate individual cases and potentially conduct option-review meetings. Those interested in a meeting are advised to make an appointment, but walk-ins are also welcome. Property owners should bring any and all paperwork they have received from Build It Back.
“We’re going on two years after the superstorm, and while we have made significant progress, there is work left to do,” Addabbo said. “It is my privilege to ease just a little of the burden on my constituents who are struggling in debt or still needing to rebuild their homes. It’s time the whole district become whole again.”
For an appointment, call Pat McCabe in the senator’s Howard Beach office at 1-718-738-1111.
