Forklift Crushes Man at Maspeth Job Site

Repair Attempt Has Deadly End

A construction worker was fatally crushed by a toppled forklift at a Maspeth construction site Tuesday morning, July 17, police reported.

The NYPD identified the victim as 54-year-old Min Baz Sik of 34th Avenue in Flushing.

Law enforcement sources said the deadly accident occurred at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at a location on 56th Drive near Maurice Avenue.

According to published reports, Sik and several others were attempting to move a disabled forklift with a working vehicle when the broken forklift suddenly fell onto the victim, crushing his chest.

Members of the 104th Precinct and EMS units rushed to the scene. Paramedics brought Sik, who suffered severe chest trauma, to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he died a short time later.

An investigation is ongoing.
