Selected English language learner students from I.S. 93 in Ridgewood were recently participated in the first annual STEM Project Showcase organized by the NYC Department of Education. Teachers Cipolla and Tzach helped students prepare for the showcase: Salsabil Nahsal, Vitaliya Drach, Cheilyn Rosario, Evelyn Hurtado, Maria Juela, Jacqueline Niola, Alexander Edroi, Manuel Batista, Anthony Puma, Ziyang Lan and Yogsan Cuautle. Over eighty projects were presented by students from 20 NYC middle schools. All students who participated were recognized with a certificate of participation and a few received medals as first, second and third place showcase winners. The following student teams received second or first place medals: Manuel and Anthony, first place medal, for their math project titled “Probability Of Dice,” Cheilyn and Jacqueline, second place medal, for their science project titled “The Effect Soaking Pea Seeds Has On Seedling Growth,” and Ziyang and Yogsan, second place medal, for their math project titled “Birthday Paradox.” Pictured are all the student that participanted, with their projects, in front of Columbia University library.
