Gay rights advocates and Bushwick residents took to the streets last Saturday, July 12, for Make the Road New York’s ninth-annual Bushwick Pride march. This year’s procession publicly called for state lawmakers to repeal a 1998 Medicaid reform law that excludes health care expenses for transgender patients. The march began at Make the Road New York’s Grove Street office and proceeded along Knickerbocker Avenue (as shown above) to Maria Hernandez Park; from there, marchers returned to the nonprofit group’s office.
