State Assembly members Margaret Markey (D-Maspeth) and Andrew Hevesi (D-Forest Hills) gave Community Board 5 District Manager Gary Giordano a proclamation marking his 25 years on the board during its July 9 meeting.
Giordano joined CB 5, which covers Ridgewood, Glendale, Maspeth and Middle Village, in 1989.
At the time he was one of its youngest members, according to Markey.
The Middle Village resident went on to act as chairman of the board’s Youth and Health committees and its district manager.
“Gary’s dedication to our community and CB 5 has helped make this board one of the most effective in the entire city and every resident of our neighborhoods is grateful for his continuing service,” Markey said in a statement.
