Queens comic book fans unite!
Katch Astoria, located at 31-19 Newton Ave., will host a Comic Con Kickoff Party on Oct. 3, one week before the four-day New York Comic Con (NYCC) takes over the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan.
Partygoers who come dressed up in costume will be able to compete for the title of Best Costume and the chance to win two three-day passes to NYCC.
The party, which starts at 7 p.m. and will go until 3 a.m., also includes raffles and other prizes such as what organizers call “rare” comic books like “Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #8,” “Transformers: Regeneration One #80.5” and “Spawn: 20th Anniversary Collectors Special.”
Brooklyn Defender, a beer created by Brooklyn Brewery and NYCC organizer ReedPOP for New York Super Week, will be $5 all night long. There will also be a live performance by tribute band The Blues Brothers at 9:30 p.m.
