Celebrating Centenarian at R’wood Party

Residents of the dead-end block of Suydam Street off Cypress Avenue in Ridgewood celebrated more than summer at their recent block party, as they threw an early birthday party for neighbor Gussie DiMarino. Set to turn 108 years old on Sept. 14, DiMarino was born in Sicily in 1906 and came with her family to the U.S. a year later. She’s lived in the same Suydam Street home since 1942. DiMarino along with family members and neighbors are pictured marking the milestone.
