Police were on the lookout for a Ridgewood man who allegedly stabbed a livery cab driver several times in the torso, arm and hands after picking up the suspect early Thursday.
According to the NYPD, the driver was attacked at 1:11 a.m., after he picked up the fare at Hemlock Street and Jamaica Avenue, in Brooklyn, and asked the victim to take him to 68-16 70th St., in Ridgewood.
Police said the suspect, identified as 41-year-old Kenneth Suden, then fled in the cab, a 2012 Toyota Camry. The livery driver was able to freed himself and asked for help in the vicinity of 60-19 70th Ave.
The victim was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
“To hear of this brutal stabbing is a shock and utterly disheartening,” said state Sen. Joseph Addabbo (D-Howard Beach). “A livery cab driver doing his job, actually anyone doing their job, should not be the victims of meaningless violence.”
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
