The Christ the King Lady Royals won another two games this past week to bring their record to a perfect undefeated 7-0.
King’s first win of the week came last Wednesday, Sept. 24, against Maria Regina of Westchester, as the Lady Royals edged the Tigers 3-1 in White Plains in their sixth game of the season.
The game started with both teams attempting to control midfield play, Coach John Fayad said. The deadlock was broken when Sarah Nolan was fouled inside the box in the 15th minute.
Fellow Junior Medina Mulic then scored on the penalty kick.
Nolan then doubled the lead when she received a cross from Paulina Ambrus that left her one on one with Maria Regina’s center back in the 21st minute.
Mulic then scored her second goal of the game on a brilliant solo effort from 25 yards out.
In their second win of the week, the Lady Royals defeated Cardinal Spellman of the Bronx, 6-0 on their home field.
The game started with fast play from both teams that resulted in a few chances that did not materialize into scores, coach Fayad said.
Nolan scored the Lady Royals’ first goal, assisted by Ambrus for the second game in a row in the 12th minute. Mulic scored Kings’ second goal, assisted by Nolan.
Nolan added a second goal after receiving a through ball off junior Andrea Cardozo and finished from about 30 yards away to end the first half.
At the beginning of the second half Genesis Campos scored on a half volley from inside the box after receiving a corner kick from Diana Paravatos. Campos continued her fine play by providing an assist to Mulic who scored from 25 yards out.
The scoring ended when Nolan finished off her hat trick after receiving a pass from Leger on top of the 18 yard box.
The Lady Royals are undefeated on the season and have scored 27 goals, while surrendering three in all seven games.
Coach Fayad credits the “explosive offense,” led by Mulic and Nolan, with nine goals each, and their stout defense led by Paravatos, Amy Teitelbaum, Stephanie Zdazenski, and Julianna Lignowski.
