Family members and colleagues of the late P.O. Robert Ehmer gathered near the 110th Precinct’s Elmhurst stationhouse last Friday, Oct. 17, to rename a local intersection in his honor. Ehmer, a long-time member of the command, died in 2012 from illnesses linked to his participation in the rescue and recovery operations following the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. Through a bill sponsored by City Council Member Julissa Ferreras signed earlier this year, the intersection of 95th Street and 43rd Avenue was renamed in Ehmer’s memory. Ferreras along with Deputy Inspector Ronald Leyson, 110th Precinct commander, and other participants look on as the ceremonial street sign is unveiled.
