Friends of the QueensWay plans to announce its blueprint to transform the abandoned Rockaway Beach Branch LIRR into a High Line-style park at a news conference Tuesday.
Friends of QueensWay, a group pushing for the park, partnered with the national non-profit Trust for Public Land and commissioned a study of the feasibility of turning the 3.5 miles of tracks stretching from Ozone Park to Rego Park into a pedestrian and biking path buffered by parkland.
Roughly a year later, Friends of QueensWay said it is prepared to release the results of the study.
