SUNNYSIDE – Police from the 108th Precinct were looking for two suspects wanted for the violent mugging of an 81-year-old man on Oct. 26. William Eichorn, a legally blind Sunnyside resident, was withdrawing cash from an ATM machine at the Chase branch at 46-10 Queens Blvd., when two heavyset, black males in their 20s to 30s approached the victim and punched him in the face and removed $100 in cash as well as his debit card, according to the NYPD.
On Tuesday, Eichorn and his family were joined by City Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer (D-Sunnyside) and Deputy Inspector Brian Hennessy of the 108th Precinct to appeal to the community in identifying the suspects. “Our community does not and will never tolerate this type of violent crime in our neighborhood,” Van Bramer said. “Mr. Eichorn is a good man and just like any other person in our community deserves to live in peace. No New Yorker should ever fear living in their own community.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
