Maspeth Debaters Sweep Tournament

The Maspeth High School Speech and Debate Team recently swept the the New York City Urban Debate League (NYCUDL), taking the top three spots at the advanced level debate tournament. Students Horia Negru and Arielle Gallegos were undefeated, taking first place, Uros Petrovic and Andy Gonzalez finished second after losing to Negru and Gallegos and Jordy Portugal and Darren Gainza were third. Freshmen Maida Redzepagic and Alen Kolenovic contributed to helping Maspeth take the top school award among competitors from Brooklyn Tech, Horace Mann, Bard High School for Early College, Queens High School of Sciences, STAR Academy and KAPPA High School.
