Alleged R’wood Burglar Bagged

Stolen Loot Dropped On Street

Police reportedly caught up to a Ridgewood man who allegedly stole valuables from two units at a neighborhood apartment house during a pair of burglaries last Tuesday, Nov. 25.

Law enforcement sources identified the suspect as 23-yearold Tyrell Jones of Myrtle Avenue.

According to information provided by the Queens District Attorney’s office, Jones and an unidentified, unapprehended accomplice visited an apartment house on Fresh Pond Road off Catalpa Avenue between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. last Tuesday.

Based on information obtained during its investigation, police determined the two suspects broke into adjacent apartments at the location, removing valuables from one dwelling and cash from another.

The tenants reportedly returned home after the burglaries occurred and found the front doors damaged, an apparent sign of forced entry.

At around 1:30 p.m. that afternoon, authorities said, an eyewitness observed Jones and his alleged cohort fleeing the scene.

Twenty minutes later, police noted, another individual spotted Jones allegedly dropping a bag containing items in front of a home on 62nd Street, about two blocks south of where the burglaries occurred.

Officers from the 104th Precinct who were alerted to the break-ins recovered the bag, which was found to contain a Macbook laptop computer, a Samsung tablet, an HP laptop computer and a PlayStation 3 video game console.

A video game controller along with a glove and a screwdriver were also discovered, it was noted.

Police reportedly stopped Jones a short time later and found him in possession of $600 in cash, the amount allegedly removed from one of the burglarized apartments.

P.O. Nicholas Mancuso of the 104th Precinct charged Jones with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, possession of burglar’s tools, criminal mischief and petit larceny.

Court records noted that Jones was arraigned the following day, Wednesday, Nov. 26, in Queens Criminal court before Judge David Hawkins, who ordered him held on $75,000 bail and to return to court on Dec. 10.
