Police Continue To Seek Suspect
Detectives continue to investigate the murder of a 48-yearold woman whose throat was cut inside her Bushwick apartment last Saturday morning, Dec. 20, it was reported.
Police said Ruth Maceira was found dead inside her fourth-floor residence on Grove Street near Evergreen Avenue at about 11:15 a.m. last Saturday.
Officers from the 83rd Precinct responded to the location after receiving a 911 call regarding a woman unconscious. Authorities said the victim had a laceration across her neck.
EMS units arrived thereafter and pronounced Maceira dead at the scene.
Sources familiar with the investigation stated a person of interest was taken into custody for questioning but was not charged in connection with the homicide. The individual, however, was arrested based on an outstanding warrant unrelated to the case.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the 83rd Precinct Detective Squad, police said.
