The Astoria real estate market continues to show the rising popularity of the area as one apartment sets a new record for rentals in the neighborhood at $5,000 a month.

Justin Kinslow of Douglas Elliman Real Estate, who had the exclusive on the three-bedroom townhouse unit, at 30-56 35th St., said the renters were living in the East Village and wanted more space, and liked the community feel of Astoria and proximity to Midtown.

“The apartment is amazing, an exquisite gut renovation of a pre-war two-family building. There is no other renovation that comes close to this in all of Astoria,” he said. “The whole apartment was customized with European finishes and appliances, exposed brick, state-of-the-art technology and large, highly stylized windows.”

The Greek owner, who lives in Geneva, Switzerland, made sure the unit had every high-end touch possible, according to Kinslow. They include heated floors and central AC, which can be controlled via remote control and iPhone application.
