Cuomo’s bill violates right to life

By Joseph Manago

No worse a political charlatan exists than Gov. Andrew Cuomo, whose signature Woman’s Equality bill obfuscates the historical feminist philosophy of rights for all persons without exception in proposing that abortion be embedded in the Constitution of the State of New York.

In her speech and essay, “The Feminist Case Against Abortion,” Serrin M. Foster, president of Feminists for Life of America, points out that the founder of the feminist movement, Mary Wollstonecraft, in “A Vindication of the Rights of Woman” (1792), condemned the pro-choice advocates who would “either destroy the embryo in the womb or cast if off when born.”

She died due to complications consequent to the birth of Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, whose allegorical novel, “Frankenstein,” projects the moral disorder of violating the laws of nature.

More poignant, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, co-editor of Susan B. Anthony’s radical newspaper, The Revolution, considered abortion to be the “murder of children, either before or after birth,” an abuse due to the “degradation of women.”

Victoria Woodhull, the first female American presidential candidate of 1872, stated that “the rights of children, then, as individuals, begin while they yet remain the foetus.”

The fact of the matter is that two male founders of the National Association to Repeal Abortion Laws, Larry Lader and Dr. Bernard Nathanson, popularized abortion as a “right” before the second wave feminist movement. The Roe v. Wade decision of 1973 legalizing abortion, violates the fundamental human right to life from the moment of conception until death and perpetuates the injustice of pregnancy discrimination educationally and occupationally, especially among the poor (69 percent of abortions) and minority women of color.

Embedding the “right” to abortion in the New York State Constitution as per Cuomo’s Woman’s Equality bill denies the right to life of each person, in particular the more vulnerable, and is a failed Frankenstein experiment on women, which not “even Dante could not have conceived” (Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin Shelley,Frankenstein Or, The Modern Prometheus, 1831).

Andrew Cuomo is a disgrace to his Roman Catholic alma maters of Archbishop Molloy High School and Fordham University.
