Coming back from the holiday weekend, the Bayside Village Business Improvement District has planned a full month of music in addition to its third annual Sunday Stroll event on Bell Boulevard.
After the Music at the Station series wrapped up in August, BID Executive Director Lyle Sclair said it was so successful that the organization is continuing the local music series every Thursday in September. It continued with teachers from Vienna Music, who were slated to perform Thursday, Sept. 10.
“The bands love it and it’s been pretty successful. The whole idea is to get people as they are coming off the train to stay down and have dinner on Bell Boulevard or to meet friends there,” Sclair said. “We are hoping to bring back this same program again in spring with perhaps a little more diversity in the kinds of music.”
The remaining performances in September are still tentative, but they are scheduled every Thursday at 5:30 just east of the Bayside Long Island Rail Road station at 213-00 41st Ave.
The Bayside BID is also bringing back the Sunday Stroll, slated for its third year on Sunday, Sept. 27, from noon to 5 p.m. on Bell Boulevard between 39th and 41st avenues.
Family activities like a bounce house and dance lessons from the Queens Dance Project will return again this year, along with a full roster of musical performances. The winners of the Bayside Little League tournaments will also be recognized.
Otherwise, Sclair said family games and vendors will line Bell Boulevard again this year. He said full specifics are yet to be worked out, but the BID is encouraging businesses from around Bayside to participate.
“We are really trying to reach out to businesses past 39th and 41st avenues,” Sclair said. “And we are still lining up to musicians, but we think this will be even bigger and better than last year.”
