Cutting the ribbon to open the new No. 7 station at 34th Street and 11th Avenue are Mayor Bill de Blasio, U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer and MTA Chairman Tom Pendergast (all holding the scissors). The $2.4-billion extension of the Flushing line, which began passenger service Sunday, promises an easier commute for Queens residents working on the booming far West Side of Manhattan.Photo by Michael Shain
