Elderly man struck by car and killed in Ozone Park: NYPD

By Tom Momberg

An elderly man was struck and killed by a car in Ozone Park late Saturday night while walking in a crosswalk against the traffic light.

Police say the 68-year-old man was struck a little before 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of 130th Street and South Conduit Avenue. The man, still unidentified, was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the car stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers in their investigations, according to the NYPD.

The police’s preliminary investigation found that the car was proceeding through the intersection when the driver saw a man crossing the street from north to south and attempted to avoid him, cops said.

Police say no arrests were made and that their investigation continues.
