ASTORIA — Police were searching for a man who stole jewelry and cameras from an Astoria home at the end of September.

At about 12:30 p.m. Sept. 21, a suspect illegally entered a residential apartment in the area of 24th Avenue and 37th Street through an unlocked rear window and stole several pieces of costume jewelry and two digital cameras before he fled on foot, according to the police.

There were no reported injuries as a result of the incident, police said.

Officials described the suspect as a black man who was last seen wearing a beige sweatshirt, a baseball cap, a black knapsack and dark-colored pants.

No arrests have been made and the investigation was ongoing, according to a police spokesman.
