Wind damage causes havoc in Bayside

By Gabriel Rom

High winds caused minor damage throughout Bayside during a blustery storm that hit the tri-state area Wednesday night.

A 20-foot tree fell onto on a car and destroyed it at Corporal Kennedy Street and 39th Avenue. Garbage cans and street signs could be found in the middle of many of Bayside’s side roads. Blown-off shingles littered the sidewalks.

On 46-10 216 St., at a large-scale building that is under construction and drew protesters last weekend, the temporary green wall had been completely torn down.

The three-unit, single-family dwelling has drawn controversy over its size.
