An early morning fire in Jackson Heights claimed the life of an elderly man on Easter Sunday, police reported.
According to fire officials, the FDNY received a call of an all-hands fire at the two-and-a-half story private residence at 25-09 87th St. at 4:34 a.m. Sunday morning.
When firefighters got the blaze under control at 5:12 a.m., an 88-year-old male was found on the first floor unconscious and unresponsive with severe burns about his body, police said. EMS units arrived and declared the man dead at the scene.
Four firefighters were taken to Elmhurst Hospital with minor injuries, the FDNY said.
The identity of the deceased is pending family notification and the investigation is ongoing.
