Five firefighters were injured in three-alarm fire in East Elmhurst this morning, FDNY says

A fire ripped through two homes in East Elmhurst on Tuesday morning injuring five firefighters, the FDNY said.

Officials responded to a call of a fire at 23-41 91st St. at about 2:10 a.m., according to a FDNY spokesperson. The fire then spread to a neighboring home and garage.

The  spokesperson said 33 units and 140 FDNY personnel extinguished the flames of the three-alarm fire at 3:41 a.m. Five firefighters suffered minor injuries and were taken to Elmhurst Hospital and NewYork-Presbyterian/Queens hospital to be evaluated.

Residents of the two homes were not injured, according to the spokesperson. The fire marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.
