Snowdays, makers of delicious, organic shaved ice cream, will be opening a location in Forest Hills.

Brokers from Eastern Consolidated tell QNS that Snowdays have signed a 10-year, 480-square-foot lease at 72-24 Austin St.

This is the third time that Eastern Consolidated has worked with Snowdays’ owner Tony Quach. The brokers have arranged a lease for Snowdays’ first location at 241 East 10th St. in the East Village in 2014, and another site at 167 Seventh Ave. South in the West Village. Snowdays has also a third location in 37-20 Prince St. in Flushing.

“A lot is happening in this area including a Shake Shack opening on the same block and a Target Express opening a few blocks away. The space also is located across the street from an elementary school and is in the midst of a number of restaurants,” said Joe Robinson, senior director of retail leasing at Eastern Consolidated about Snowdays’ new Forest Hills location.

Shaved ice cream has evolved from Taiwanese and Korean shaved ices, and quickly gained popularity on the west coast and later nationwide.

“I first encountered this new frozen dessert while living in Los Angeles,” Tony Quach said. “It was the best thing I had ever tasted, there was nothing like it. What was first a cool new place to take friends for dessert, quickly turned into an obsession and craving.”

Snowdays prepares their ice cream daily on the premises using fresh, organic dairy from New York’s Hudson Valley. They also use seasonal ingredients to flavor the ice cream as well as hand-roasted black sesame or real cream cheese. According to Snowdays website, the company pairs the fluffy texture of snow with the taste and creaminess of ice cream.

Snowdays ice cream comes in three sizes: regular ($6), large ($7) and yeti ($9).
