Do you have ideas on how to make Roosevelt Avenue and the greater Woodside area a better place to live and do business?
Woodside on the Move invites Woodside business owners and residents, family and friends out to a community conversation regarding the future of Woodside on Thursday, June 23, to discuss different ideas and concerns related to the neighborhood.
“When people talk about Woodside, they talk about a safe, affordable place to live and raise their families. A place to plant roots,” said Amy T. Paul, executive director of Woodside on the Move, in a letter calling people to attend the meeting. “We also welcome your ideas of the neighborhood at large, from Queens Boulevard to Northern Boulevard and beyond.”
During the meeting, the Queens Economic Development Corporation (QEDC) will present their findings from their Commercial District Needs Assessment, as well as listen to community ideas on making Woodside, and Roosevelt Avenue, even better.
The meeting will be held at the Woodside on the Move office at 39-42 59th St., second floor, at 6:30 p.m.
Woodside on the Move saw what love the neighborhood’s residents and businesses had for their community on June 4 and 11, as they came out to celebrate the first Worldwide Woodside Street Festival.
At the festival there were dance and martial arts demonstrations, fun games for people of all ages, storytelling, arts and crafts, and more activities for community members to enjoy.
“We concluded the Worldwide Woodside Neighborhood Fest with the best of what this country, this city, and our neighborhood of Woodside offers: people from different faiths and ideas coming together on 61st Street, sharing space and making art,” Paul said. “There is so much more work to build the communities and neighborhoods that we can all feel proud to call home.”
