The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is investigating a pedestrian crash in which a 51-year-old man died after being hit by two cars on the Whitestone Expressway last week.
At about 4:40 a.m., police responded to a call of a pedestrian struck on the expressway between the Linden Place and 20th Avenue exits, according to the police.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the man, whose identity is still pending proper family notification, unconscious and unresponsive on the roadway, police said.
EMS also responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene, police said.
The preliminary investigation indicated the man was trying to cross the four lanes of the expressway when he was struck by the first vehicle, a four-door SUV, which was traveling northbound, officials said.
The man was then hit by a second vehicle, a dark-colored sedan, also traveling northbound, police said.
The SUV remained at the scene, but the sedan left, police added.
No arrests have been made and the investigation was ongoing, a police spokesman said.
