JAMAICA – A police officer was injured after being stabbed in the hand by a man who had locked himself in his bathroom, according to the NYPD.
On Monday, officers from the 113th Precinct responded to a call to check on the well-being of someone at 111-51 West 157th St. in South Jamaica. When they arrived, officers found a 57-year-old man who had locked himself inside of a bathroom.
When officers knocked on the door, the man opened it and stabbed one of the officers in his right hand with a sharp object. He retreated back into the bathroom and locked the door. The suspect, identified as Crosby Craig, was later taken into custody and charged with assault on a police officer, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing and harassment, the NYPD said.
EMS workers responded to the scene and took the officer to North Shore University Hospital, where he was in stable condition.
