Those who are looking to live in Astoria but are worried about affordability can apply for one of six affordable apartments at a new mixed-use building.

These new units are available to rent at 28-22 Astoria Blvd. through the city’s Housing Connect program. There are only studio and one-bedroom apartments available so the offer is good for those looking to live by themselves or with one roommate.

Studio apartments begin at $1,158 and one-bedroom units cost $1,330. A person making $39,703 to $50,800 is eligible to apply for the studio apartment while those looking to rent a one-bedroom should be making between $46,600 and $58,800.

A percentage of apartments are set aside for mobility disabled applicants, vision or hearing-disabled applicants and there will be preference for municipal employees and residents of Community Board 1.

According to Zillow, amenities include parking, a landscaped roof deck with views of Manhattan, free bike storage, a laundry room and central heating and cooling.

There is hardwood flooring throughout each apartment and the kitchen includes stone counters, lacquer cabinetry and stainless steel appliances.

A one-bedroom unit in this apartment normally costs $3,250 so those who are eligible are receiving a more than 50 percent discount.

The building is located near the popular Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden and near the Astoria Boulevard N/Q train.

The deadline to apply is Oct. 3 and late applications will not be considered. Chosen applications will go through a lottery process and qualified candidates will be interviewed.
