He had a threatening note, but nobody believed a word of it.
Police are looking for the would-be bandit who failed in his attempt to steal cash from a Jamaica bank last Friday morning.
According to police, the caper took place at 10:10 a.m. on Sept. 2 inside the Citibank located at 168-48 Hillside Ave.
Law enforcement sources said the suspect walked into the location and approached the bank manager inside his office, then handed over a note demanding cash. The perpetrator then told the manager he had a gun, but did not display a weapon.
Authorities said the manager then went to the teller area and did not return. A few minutes later, the suspect got cold feet and fled the location empty-handed in an unknown direction.
The attempted robbery was reported to the 103rd Precinct.
Police describe the suspect as a black man between 30 and 35 years of age, standing 5 foot 11 inches tall and last observed wearing a dark-colored baseball cap, a white long-sleeved shirt, black jeans and white sneakers while carrying a black backpack.
